Raul Asencio posts apology to Real Madrid fans on Instagram after dismal FIFA Club World Cup performance

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio, 22, has posted an apology on Instagram to the Los Blancos fans. After their dismal performance in the FIFA Club World Cup, which ended in a humiliating defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

The 22-year-old defender has come under heavy criticism following his previous mistakes. Including giving away a penalty on his tournament debut against Al-Hilal and being sent off early in the 3-1 win over Pachuca. But Asencio has now taken to Instagram to apologise to Madrid fans.

‘Madridista, the season in which I fulfilled my dream of being part of the best club in the world is coming to an end. But it ended in a way I never expected.’

‘I feel like I didn’t live up to expectations at the Club World Cup. Where I had to put in my best effort, but now it’s time to recover and recharge,’
